ABOUT US
Since 2018, the friends and families of Barcelona-based TransPerfect employees have come together for an annual fundraising event and initiative, the TransPerfect Mountain Challenge, in support of a local charity, AFANOC.
Through this initiative, we are able to raise funds for AFANOC’s main project the “Casa dels Xuklis” (House of the Xuklis), a place where families with children affected by cancer can stay as long as they need whilst they undergo challenging cancer treatments and recovery. The money raised will go directly towards completing renovations to the living room, an extension to the kitchen and the installation of solar panels, allowing for even more families to stay with AFANOC and receive their life-changing support.
BARNABY WASS, Senior Vice President: “When he was 18 months old, my son Leon was diagnosed with leukemia and we received amazing support from a small non-profit that helps families of children with cancer: AFANOC. They are a small organization, but trust me they make a big difference. AFANOC was there for us during the tough times, and now that Leon has recovered we feel it is our time to give back. YOU can make a real difference: sign up and get your family, colleagues and friends to join us!”
OUR VALUES
The TransPerfect Mountain Challenge was born out of the first-hand experience of a local family affected by childhood cancer. After receiving life-changing psychosocial support from the AFANOC team, the family decided to give back to the association through organising an annual fundraising event and initiative, encouraging people to come together and set themselves a physical challenge.
These are the core values of the TransPerfect Mountain Challenge:
- Courage
- Strength
- Determination
- Willpower
These core values not only apply to the sporting attributes needed for the TransPerfect Mountain Challenge, but also to children that are affected by cancer. When a child or adolescent is diagnosed with cancer, they need the courage, strength, determination and great willpower to overcome moments of difficulty during their cancer treatments and to adapt to a temporarily different lifestyle.
We want this reality to be a source of inspiration for those who are in good health, encouraging people get outside and exercise for those who cannot currently do so.
The TransPerfect Mountain Challenge is constantly trying to find new ways to become more sustainable for the community and the planet. Click the link below to find out how we are doing so.
